How to choose ribbons that work together

Mix Different Textures: Velvet is a hit, but using only velvet falls flat. Pair different types of velvet alongside satin, fringe, or even tulle for contrast.
Use Multiple Sizes: For an outdoor statement, at least one ribbon must be 2+ inches wide. Layer in a couple 1.5" ribbons. Do not go under 1" when decorating outdoors—thin ribbons get lost from the sidewalk.
Balance Color: To enhance your focal ornaments, choose ribbon variations of the same colors. Do not add new colors. Here I chose green, pink, burgundy, and mustard yellow. Why? The shiny green elevates the small green ornaments. The mustard yellow brings out the gold ornaments.
